Defined empathy and its role in maintaining successful relationships between individuals, as well as its key role in achieving and sustaining peace within groups of individuals. Using two articles from popular media sources (Psychology Today and TIME magazine) and comparing them to numerous articles in scientific journals and notes from two courses from previous academic year, I came to the conclusion that empathy does lead to a notable decrease in physical violence and use of hurtful words to abuse and manipulate others.

Used Enchiridion (Epictetus) and Self-Reliance and other essays (Emerson) to explain how individuals can adapt these rules to their life in order to become more resistant to disappointment and adversity in life, as well as enjoy life more fully.
